This page explains our club's approach to equipment. It is intended for coaches.
Equipment provided to you remains the property of the club. It is being lent to you so you can coach a Mount Tabor team. When you are done coaching in our club, please return the equipment.
Popup goals are required for the U7 and U8 divisions. These are not cheap items, and must be returned by coaches who are transitioning to the U9 year. If you need to be able to create goal mouths use corner flags for this purpose, or purchase your own popup goals. The club can often arrange a private purchase of PUGG goals at the club's price.
Our Equipment Coordinator is in charge of making sure you have the equipment you need. From time to time, our Equipment Coordinator might ask for equipment to be returned for inventorying, or for you to report on the club-owned equipment you have in your care. Please comply.
You should try to keep club-owned equipment clean, cool, and dry. This will lengthen its useful life. Balls, cones, and corner flags can be labeled with your team name and your phone number. Your coaching career with us is likely to outlast them anyway, and they are of more use if they can be returned to you when they get lost.
Some small items are of a personal nature or have a short lifetime. Realistically, the club doesn't expect them to be returned. These include ball pumps, whistles, clipboards, balls, and field cones (the flattish ones with a hole in the center).
We expect you to be creative and to make do with a reasonable allotment of equipment. The standard kit varies from one year to the next because of variations in the age of our equipment fleet, changes in PYSA's rules, and other factors. Also, the standard kit varies with the age of the players, as follows.

Two balls are provided new each fall to new coaches and to all teams entering the U7 (size 3), U8 (size 4), and U13 (size 5) year. In other years, the club provides one fresh match ball. Please encourage all players to bring a ball to practice.

We also support DRL teams, which require two nets. The DRL rules say the home team sets up both nets.
First-Aid Kits: Please keep club first-aid kits with your equipment. Replace the whole first-aid kit whenever you run low on any component, according to the instructions supplied in the kit. Our equipment czar will make half-spent kits whole again and keep the supply rolling along. When returning a kit, include a note if you have any suggestions that might make them better in future seasons.
In addition to the standard items, the club will make other equipment available to coaches when possible, upon request. This might include ball bags, alternate-color pinnies, whistles, additional corner flags (probably older ones), match balls, various sizes of goalie jerseys and gloves, etc.
Club equipment is provided to you so you can coach a Mount Tabor team. The expectation is that "normal wear and tear" will pertain to damage sustained at a team event.
However, we trust you to take good care of the equipment. Can you use the popup goals at a family reunion? Yes. Can you use the corner flags to lay out some backyard landscaping ideas for your spouse to look at? Yes. Please use your best judgment.
Some coaches provide a bunch of additional balls. Some drills require a ball per player. Some players (we won't name names) don't always bring a ball to practice.
Some coaches buy a lot of field cones, perhaps of various colors, so they can set up several intricate drills without having to waste time rearranging cones. The club provides enough cones to do the usual stuff.
Some coaches buy extra corner flags to use as makeshift goals, slalom gates, etc.
Hula hoops are handy for soccer golf holes.
Some coaches buy fold-up seating and shelter for parents or inactive players. This is very useful at tournaments.
Some coaches buy a big water dispenser to ensure the kids are well-hydrated on a hot day. Another great tournament item. Doubles as a source of ice for sprains.
Some coaches buy a fancy bag to tote everything around. A nice, weatherproof bag can be a real asset.
If you coach with us for ten years, you will find that you own most of these things by the end.
