Fields

Match Fields

Match fields are assigned by PYSA, or other tournament authority. Our club has nothing to do with match fields. If you need directions to a match field, consult the PYSA web site, the OYSA web site, or your coach.

The "Map" links take you to MapQuest (tm) where you can obtain directions from any location. "Seasonal" means the park converts to baseball for spring/summer. "Year-round" means it is configured for soccer all year. Some of our fields are on school property (generally not irrigated). Some are on city park property (generally irrigated). Some are on private land. We are very grateful for the use of private fields.

Practice Field Policies

MTSC teams practice during the fall season on (mostly) public parks and school fields which are allocated to PYSA by Portland Parks and Rec. PYSA in turn allocates practice fields to clubs at a field coordinators meeting in the summer. Clubs in turn dole them out to teams.

Coaches: Whenever you are using your practice field, you should have your permit with you.

Public park and school fields are officially unavailable for soccer practices during the spring. This is partly because of baseball/softball/T-ball which uses a lot of the space. It is also for the health of the turf. The warm, moist conditions of spring are a time when the grass on our fields can rejuvenate itself. It is also a time when the soil will give way under a cleated foot.

If stepping on the field produces more than 1/4" deep water-filled footprint, or when running produces the same result, play is not permitted. This is required by our usage agreement with the city, and it is a good idea on private fields as well. To check on Portland Parks & Rec's official take on field conditions use the rain out line at 503.823.3020

A certain number of fields are available "under the radar" on a first-come-first-served basis during spring. Click here to reserve one of the available fields for soccer during the spring season. Be careful not to play on a field if it is too wet, even if you paid for it.

Mount Tabor Soccer Club is grateful to local churches which have been willing to offer their private greenspace for our practices. If you are a coach who wants to practice in the spring season, contact our fields coordinator to find out what is available.

For winter-time practice space contact Portland Public Schools' Department of Civic Use of Buildings to secure a gymnasium where you can practice indoors.
